I believe that no-one simply joins the Labour Party so that they can carry a membership card in their wallet. Rather they want to meet like minded people, and work together to try and win elections, both at local and national level.
That’s why door-to-door work is important, in both getting the message across and showing a presence to the public at large that we are there to help them. What’s more, if you “canvass” (really it is more of a mobile ward surgery) throughout the year then you help distroy the myth that we’re only visible at election times when we want their vote!
So why not join one of our campaigning sessions which take place throughout the year in the wards that we believe should always be Labour? You won’t be on your own, rather part of a team that is interested in the Grimsby area and people in general. If you’ve never done this kind of thing before, you’ll always be supported by one of your party colleagues. And if disability affects your mobility, there is always telephone canvassing.
Thus I look forward seeing you at a ward near you!
