There were 492139 incidents of flytipping reported to councils that was a full truck load or more, these are the more serious flytipping issues and shows that there is a national problem, this is a rise of 13% and a cost of £57 million to cash strapped Councils.
Did you know:- that if councils take flytippers to court then any fines imposed goes directly to the courts, rather than Councils that have to clean up the mess left.
The government has announced powers to Councils to issue fixed penalty notices, this response is a too little too late and shows that the Government is not taking flytipping seriously!
Locally the Council is clearing away all reported flytipping, and pretty quick too, however if you want to help, then the people who do this sort of thing need reporting. Only neighbours and even friends can do this, ordinary folk that have had enough!
Flytipping, a national or local problem? I would suggest we need the Government to step up to the mark, to ease a national problem that affects us all locally.
