Many people have suffered tremendously thanks to Covid, whether it is losing a loved one or their livelihood. For me it has meant I’ve not been able to see a lady I regarded as my best friend since 2 days before the first lockdown.
Which is why there is so much hostility towards the Government over Partygate. It’s not that we don’t think there are more important issues facing the country, rather that the Prime Minister is appearing to put two fingers up to those of us who went along with the restrictions to our personal liberties. For the fact that Johnson and his colleagues actually made the rules they weren’t prepared to follow does stick in the gullet.
Mind you, individuals are right to point out the matters of greater significance. For the current occupant of No.10 is failing everywhere he goes.
I mean with inflation running at over 5% and set to reach 7.5% by the summer, it doesn’t make sense to add to people’s burdens by increasing the amount they pay in National Insurance Contributions. Remember that tax allowances are also being frozen, while the less said about fuel prices the better! Council Tax is going up as well, and with the Tories being in control of North East Lincolnshire since 2019, under a Conservative national Government there is no escaping who is responsible for this rise.
Oh, and back to Covid, you may remember how Johnson missed the vital COBRA emergency meetings at the start of the pandemic. This underestimation of the virus’s severity including letting the super-spreader Cheltenham Festival go ahead.
And that was just the start of the blunders!
