Police on the street again?
Police on the street again?

The latest announcements by Boris the buffoon to increase the funding for the criminal justice system is welcomed. However, 20000 police officers does not cover the cuts that the Tories have metered out without thought. Since the cutting of 21000 officers, knife crime has risen, county line drug gangs, burglaries, car crime are all out of control. This Tory U-turn shows that they were wrong with their politically driven austerity, austerity that kills over 600 homeless people per year, a massive increase. Austerity that has led to a huge increase in foodbanks and holiday hunger for children, even our last remaining foodbank can’t keep up with demand.

They also announced an extension of the stop and search powers, these powers that were cut by Theresa May when she was home secretary, Another Tory U-Turn.

They announce another 10000 prison places, yet the prison population is the highest in western Europe, perhaps if we tackled the causes of crime these places wouldn’t be needed. To do this we need Councils that are properly funded, using early intervention and children centres to help troubled families that are struggling.

The facts are there for anyone to see and have been for years, so why the sudden change of heart? Is a General Election on its way!
